Palaso Wanted Over Shs 2.4bn NRM Boss Robbery Saga
Police and other security agencies have launched a serious hunt for Palaso who is believed to have led the robbery of money over shs 2.4 bn from the home of NRM Deputy Treasurer Barbara Nekesa Oundo. According to police, Palaso is believed to have gone with money worth shs 700m.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says, last December a group of police officers led by Michael Wango put Nekesa on gun point and money worth shs 2.41 bn was stolen from their home in Bukesa in Muyenga Kampala suburb.
Enanga says before the robbery, Wango had disconnected CCTV cameras and security lights to enable easy entry to the home of Nekesa. "The robbers were captured by the neighborhood cameras," Says Enanga. He added that before the robbery, Wango had disconnected CCTV Camera and lights to enable robbers easy entry to the house.
He says the robbers first put maids on gun point and later forced them to bed room of Nekesa. "They threatened to kill her if she does not lead them to where money was kept," he says adding that out of fear she took them to the back room where they picked five bags full of money.
"After robbery, they inflected injuries on Wango to kill evidence," Says Enanga.
He added that they first went to a banana plantation where they claim a security guard was seeing them and they left two bags.
"Palaso went with one bag and police officer took two bags to Nsyambya barracks," he says. He added that money was later distributed in the barracks. Enanga adds that a total of 12 suspects have been charged and are now on remand in Luzira.
