Parish Chief, SACCO Chairperson Remanded Over Soliciting Millions From PDM Beneficiaries
The State House AntiGraft Unit working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions have arraigned; Khamale Micheal the Parish Chief of Bunagabu Parish and Wakuma David the Chairperson of Bunangubu Parish Devekopment Model SACCO in Manafwa District before the Magistrate's Court of Manafwa, on charges of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Obtaining Money by False Pretense and Theft of PDM funds.
Court has been told tha, the accused and others still at large, between the month of February and July 2024 at Bunangabu Parish, Manafwa District, conspired to illegally demand and collect millions of shillings from hundreds of beneficiaries of Bunangabu PDM SACCO as a condition for them to benefit from PDM funds.
They went ahead and stole some of the money meant for beneficiaries.
Part of the money has already been recovered from the suspects.
These have been remanded until 26th August 2024.
