Parliament Vets Nominees for Bank of Uganda Board.

The Parliament's Committee on Appointments vetted and approved four Presidential nominees for the Bank of Uganda board.

The Committee, which was chaired by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, gave the green light to Japheth Kato, Didas Nkurunziza, Rosemary Kisembo, and Titus Wasswa Mulindwa as Board Member, Financial Intelligence Authority..

The vetting process involved examining the qualifications, experience, and overall suitability of the nominees for the positions. After careful consideration, the Committee found the four nominees to be qualified and capable of serving in their designated roles.

The approved nominees will now await confirmation from the appointing authority before assuming their respective roles. The Committee will communicate its decision to the appointing authority in due course.

The Bank of Uganda is the country's central bank and is responsible for implementing monetary policy, managing foreign exchange reserves, and regulating financial institutions. The Financial Intelligence Authority, on the other hand, is responsible for combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes.

The approval of these nominees is expected to strengthen the operations of the Bank of Uganda and the Financial Intelligence Authority, which are critical institutions in the country's financial sector.
