Police Boss Petitions President Museveni Over Promotion

A senior police officer has petitioned to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the Commander In Chief for missing on promotions, Spyreports has learnt.

The officer who has put management of police on tenterhooks has been identified as Umburo, who is the head of Field Police Unit at Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala.
According to close friends of Umburo, he petitioned to the President after his names were missing on the promotion list.

Recently president Museveni promoted over 2000 police officers from the rank of ASP to the rank of SCP.
Sources say Umburo's name was not on the final promotion yet it was submitted.
"I have missed on promotion for close to four times and I have been told to be patient but this time round I will not wait," a source quoted Umburo fuming.
"I have done what it takes in police and I don't see the reason why I should not be promoted. All my juniors have been promoted more than two times and I have been left behind," he says.
He added that he does not have any criminal record in the force and wants to know why he is not promoted.

The source says Umburo out of frustration, he wrote to the President showing his dissatisfaction.
State house sources say the President received his petition in person and also wondered why his name was not on the final list. "Am shocked to see that this long friend of mine is not promoted. I need to find out from IGP," a state house source quoted the President saying.

Security sources say the President later called IGP Martin Okoth Ochola and asked him why Mr Umboro was not promoted. In his response the IGP assured the president that he will cross check with the vetting team why his name missed out. "Your Excellence am going to make sure that he is vetted and his names are sent to your office and he is promoted," a source heard IGP telling the President.
