IGG Storms Energy Ministry over Corruption Allegations
The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Beti Kamya, this morning 03/07/2023, stormed the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development to conduct a spot check.
According to the IGG and her team, the spot check was in relation to a whistleblower's report on corruption, particularly regarding the Rural Electrification Program.
The Permanent Secretary, Irene Bateebe, was ordered to present accountability documents for the three financial years spanning from 2020 to 2021.
Kamya told the press that the Inspectorate of Government has resolved to doing impromptu visits to Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs as a strategic measure to fight corruption.
