Police Officer Fires 30 Bullets Trying to Kill a Colleague, Arrested.

Police in Kaliro District have in detention one of their own, D/C Bwire Moses Mangeni, on charges of attempted murder on fellow police officers.

The incident occurred on 12/9/2023, at around 11pm at Namugongo police post, when D/C Bwire Moses Mangeni asked PC Kutosi Tyson for key of the police motorcycle because he wanted to proceed to his home village in Busia District. 

PC Kutosi Tyson declined to hand over the key of the motorcycle because it's the only means of transport for the police post and the OC had given him instructions not to hand over the motorcycle to anyone. This angered DC BWIRE MOSES and he started abusing PC Kutosi Tyson and the CID staff DC Yeko Cairline.

The quarrel attracted the attention of the OC police post Cpl Mulero Emmanuel who was at his resident which is about 600metres away from where his staffs sleep. He contained the situation and went back to his resident. 

Shortly he heard PC Kutosi Tyson crying that, D/C Bwire Moses Mangeni had cut him, he came out and tried to look for PC Kutosi Tyson but had run away, at the same time, D/C Bwire Moses Mangeni used a hoe to broke into the room Of PC Kutosi Tyson and removed a gun, PC Kutosi Tyson also ran into the bush when he heard D/C Bwire Moses Mangeni shorting bullets. 

The OC police post also ran away and rang the main station for assistance. Later after realizing that the bullets were finished in the magazine, D/C Bwire Moses Mangeni went and handed over the rifle no 56-3010782 AK 47 with an empty magazine to Kaliro NTC police post. Later the victim managed to reach Kaliro CPS where he entered a report of attempted murder then he was taken for medical attention.

The victim was taken to Musana Health Center where he's treating injuries on head inflicted on him by Mangeni using a hoe. the suspect  was arrested and detained at Kaliro CPS. the exhibit rifle was recovered and exhibited. the scene of crime was visited by the Acting OC station IP waswa Frederick, CI staff D/Sgt waako Noah Nelson, soco, and other detectives. cartridges were recovered from the same.

According to police, there's a pull of blood at the scene, bullet holes on the house of the OC as a result of the shooting by DC Bwire. The locking system of Kutosi Tyson's room was broken by DC Bwire when looking for the gun. He also entered the room of the OC CID Caroline and picked Case files which he later abandoned in his bag at the police post. The victim sustained injuries on the head and currently admitted at Musana Health Center Kaliro.
