Detectives investigating the alleged murder of a landowner and her husband have summoned local politicians who allegedly fueled the land conflict and incited acts of violence that led to the gruesome murder and attempted murder.
Police have summoned the local area Member of Parliament, Hon Mbabazi Pascal and the LCV Muhereza Ntambi Michael over allegations that fueled the land conflict and incited acts of violence that led to the gruesome murder of Namutebi Milly Naava and her husband Kayizi Abdullah and attempted murder of their 2 sons Kawuma Ibrahim and Ssekamatte Muzafaru. Police also on top of the two leaders, took a statement from the LCIII Kiruma Sun County Councillor, Ahimbisibwe Stephen.
The conflict started between Naava who was one of the administrators and squatters on the disputed land of about 3 square miles in Buwekula, Block 60 plot 1, covering the villages of Kilwani, Kayunga, Lukyamuzi and Bulega in the Sub Counties of Madudu and Kiruma on Mubende District.
Namutebi Milly Naava administrator to the late Zachariah Ssaku Kikonyogo had sent her workers on 13/07/2023, to till the land in preparation for the coming rains but were however blocked by Tumusiime Benjamin. The latter summoned the former to forge a way forward.
According to police reports, on 31/07/2023 at about 7:45am, Naava, her husband and the two sons proceeded to meet Tumusiime. On reaching there, Tumusiime made an alarm prompting people to pounce on the victims with sticks, stones and pangas, and hacked Namutebi Milly Naava aged 54 and a resident on Kilwani village and her husband Kayizi Abdallah aged 53 to death. The deceased’s sons fortunately escaped and fled for safety.
Last Friday, 5 suspects namely; Tumusiime Benjamin, Rukundo Prince, Kakaire Zainabu, Birigya Job and Besimire Milly were charged in court for murder, attempted murder and being accessories to murder. They were remanded to Kawere prisons until 15/09/2023.
