Police Warn Bus Passengers On Increasing Robbery In Transit
Police have observed consistent patterns of criminals sedating bus passengers.
On November 5, 2024, Basikana Amon, aged 24, was drugged on a Jaguar company bus (registration number UBN 307 T) and subsequently robbed of his belongings.
He is currently hospitalized at Katuna border receiving treatment.
The following day, November 6, at around 0500hrs, three (03) passengers on another Jaguar bus (registration number UBN 260 T) traveling from Kampala to Kigali were also sedated and robbed of their mobile phones, cash, and other valuables.
These victims were taken to Kabale Referral Hospital in critical condition. In response to these incidents, we are in discussions with bus company management to address this growing issue.
"We urge the public to remain vigilant and cautious when eating meals during journeys. Most perpetrators of such offences often deceive victims into consuming food or drinks laced with sedatives before robbing them".Confirmed Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke.
