SFC Impersonator Arrested over Conning University Law Graduate of Shs 5M
Detectives attached to Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala are holding an impersonator over allegations of conning a university law graduate money worth shs 5M promising her a job at Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) at Entebbe international airport.
The arrested has been identified as Ronald Taremwa. He was arrested Saturday afternoon after being in hideout for some months. According to Rhona Kusasira whose money was swindled, arrested Taremwa took her money in April 2023 after promising her a job in only one month. Rhona further told detectives that Taremwa promised her that he would connect her to one of the Generals in UPDF who will automatically give her the job and that part of the money she gave him would be shared with the same general.
After realizing the deception, Kusasira took desperate measures and decided to check with Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) officials. To her dismay, she discovered that they had no record of receiving her job application. Frustrated and determined to seek justice, Kusasira hurried to Kampala Central Police Station to report the fraudulent incident.
Following swift action, Taremwa was promptly arrested and charged with obtaining money by false pretense, as stated under case file reference number 39/15/7/2023.
During interrogation by detectives and upon being confronted with the evidence, Taremwa admitted to his deceitful actions and agreed to refund the money he had taken from Kusasira.
In an effort to make amends, Taremwa made an initial payment of Shs 4 million to Kusasira, and he assured her that he would settle the remaining balance of Shs 1 million by the following week.
