Police Investigating Incident of Robbery and Murder by Shooting

On July 21, 2023, a tragic incident of Aggravated Robbery and Murder by shooting took place at Nakilama cell, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, and is currently being investigated by the Nsangi Police Division.

The victims, Lutaseera Lawrence, a 45-year-old businessman, and Ssenyonga Rashid, a 27-year-old gateman, both residents of Nakilama cell, were targeted in the attack. They were returning home in Lawrence's motor vehicle with his wife, Kyazzike Norah Patricia. Upon reaching their gate, they called for the gateman, Ssenyonga Rashid, to open it for them.

However, as they entered the compound, two unidentified armed men riding a bodaboda suddenly appeared and opened fire, fatally shooting both Lawrence and Ssenyonga. The assailants then robbed them of approximately 80 million Ugandan shillings and their mobile phones.

The victims were rushed to Doctor's Hospital Seguku for medical attention, but unfortunately, they were pronounced dead upon arrival. The police were immediately notified of the incident and responded promptly. At the crime scene, 12 cartridge shells and 7 live ammunition rounds were recovered as evidence.

Additionally, Lawrence's motor vehicle, with registration number UBG 169M, was found at Doctor's Hospital Seguku with suspected blood stains on the seats, a broken driver's windscreen, and three bullet holes.

"The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the city mortuary for an autopsy, and the motor vehicle has been held in custody at Nalumunye Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation.

The police are diligently working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this heinous crime, and we urge members of the public not to carry large sums of money at night to avoid attracting criminals," SSP Patrick Onyango PRO KMP said.
