Tamale Mirundi Laid To Rest In Kaliisizo - Family Defied His Wish To Bury Him While Standing
The former Presidential press secretary and veteran journalist Joseph Tamale Mirundi has been laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kalisizo, Kyotera district.
Vice President, Major Jessica Alupo Epel, served as the chief mourner and represented His Excellency the President att the burial.
President Yoweri Museveni has praised the late Tamale Mirundi whom said was a preist in the NRM party. This was in a message delivered by Vice President Jessica Rose Epel Alupo.
The Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Lucy Nakyobe has praised the Late Tamale Mirundi whom she said was hardworking and obedient person."Due to speaking a lot, some people hated Tamale Mirundi but he gained more friends. I have been his follower because he was a stress killer. He has been good at apologising when in the wrong. We shall truly miss him". She said.
"Mirundi was a unique and knowledgeable individual, known for his engaging social media content. His family has requested government support to realize his dream of establishing a robust media platform. Despite his complex personality, Mirundi left a lasting impact on those who knew him".She added.
Our father aspired to leave a lasting legacy through Mirundi Plaza. He dreamed of creating a significant landmark in his home area, with plans to construct a storage building and a park that would include a library, shops, and rental spaces. Our prayer and request to the government is to honor his memory by fulfilling this vision and ensuring that his legacy lives on - Nantongo, Tamale Mirundi's daughter said.
The Vice President Jessica Alupo promised to deliver the family requests to the president.
Mr John Kakande, a veteran journalist and friend to the deceased Tamale Mirundi has slammed a section of Ugandan media for reportedly not reporting about the former presidential advisor's death. According to Mr Kakande, it was inhuman for the said media houses not to report about Tamale's death.

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugabas PLU team was Led by Chairman Toyota Micheal kaguta, Minister Balaam Barugahara and Frank Gashumba. They laid a wreath to the coffin of their former Buganda spokesperson late Mr Tamale Mirundi.
Gashumba urged government to contruct more specialized hospitals such that Ugandans are ttreated and die from their motherland tthan alwayys flown abroad for treatment.
However,the family defied his wisgh toburry Mirundi while standingsaying that they cannot deviate from tthe Ganda tradition.
Richard Lwasa Mpjja Mirundi big broher noted that the can not deviate from he buganda tradition of laying the deceased to rest wile lying down.
The burial was attended bu thousands mourners including Ministers,Legisltors Clergy members from Media fraternity and freinds.
Tamale Mirundi breathed his last on 13th August 2024 of lung related complications at Kisubi Hospital at the age of 60.
