Mixed Reactions As First Son Muhoozi Asks President Museveni To Release His friend MP Mawanda

The Chief of Defence Forces who doubles as the national Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda and First son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has created mixed reaction on different media platforms  following his message demanding the release of his friend Igara East Legislator Hon Micheal Mawanda.

His message posted on his official X handle @mkainerugaba, Gen Muhoozi expressed  dissatisfaction on continued detention of His Man Hon Micheal Mawanda Maranga of Igara East MP and National Mobilizer of Patriotic League of Uganda.

"My friend, Michael Mawanda, is in prison ( and they think we shall stay quiet forever) while people who have stolen from this country for decades are still Ministers?? Mzee should hear our cry for change".Said Gen Muhoozi.

He added, " Michael Mawanda, is a political prisoner. He was taken to prison by some politically dilapitated people in NRM for the 'great crime' of supporting Muhoozi Kainerugaba in Bushenyi. That's his only crime. Supportting me. Free Mawanda!".

Angry Muhoozi further added, " You Ugandans will forgive me for my brutal honesty. I'm a soldier who knows that lies kill men. Uganda should be at least number 5 in the biggest economies in Africa. We are currently number 12. That's an embarrassment".

MPs Paul Akamba and Micheal Mawanda, together with a lawyer have been remanded by  the Anti Corruption court.

MPs Michael Mawanda, Mudiimi Wamakuyu, Paul Akamba lawyer Julius Kirya Taitankonko and Leonard Kavundira  were joined by former Trade Permanent secretary Geraldine Ssali on charges of diversion of over UGX3.4B meant for war loss compensation to Buyaka Growers Cooperative Society.

They are accused of mismanaging UGX 7.3 billion of the UGX 164 billion meant for compensation of cooperatives affected by war.
