Tanzania investigates mysterious illness after 5 deaths near Ugandan Boarder.

The government of Tanzania has sent a group of healthcare professionals to investigate a puzzling illness that has resulted in the deaths of five individuals.

According to a statement issued by the health ministry on Thursday night, seven people have been identified with symptoms of the illness, which include fever, vomiting, bleeding in different parts of the body, and kidney failure.

Tanzania's Chief Medical Officer, Tumaini Nagu, stated in the aforementioned statement that the government has deployed a rapid response team to the Kagera region in the north-west of the country, which shares a border with Uganda, to investigate the "communicable disease."

Nagu, also mentioned that samples have been collected from both the living and deceased individuals in an attempt to determine the origin and nature of the illness. She urged the public to remain calm but take necessary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

This investigation comes after an Ebola outbreak in Uganda, which lasted for almost four months and resulted in the deaths of 55 people, before being declared over by the government in January.

In the southeastern region of Lindi, Tanzania, an outbreak of leptospirosis or "rat fever" was detected last year, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals.

Leptospirosis, the bacterial infection detected during the outbreak in Lindi, is frequently transmitted through the ingestion of water or food that has been contaminated with animal urine. Tanzania's President at the time, Samia Suluhu Hassan, suggested that the disease may have been triggered by increased human interaction with wildlife due to environmental degradation.
