Taxpayers Urged To Resist Any Instance Of Coercion, Resist Bribery
The Uganda Revenue Authority assistant Commissioner of Business Policy Charles Mua has encouraged all individuals (taxpayers) to resist any for of coercion by the tax collectors and also urged them to avoid bribery assuring them of protection.
He made the remarks while gracing the
Northern Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Integrity Forum.
Mua has emphasized the critical role of integrity in ensuring that the agency’s operations align with its Client Value Proposition and Employee Value Proposition.
He stated that integrity involves more than preventing unethical behavior; it reflects the treatment of taxpayers and the public during service delivery.
Key qualities highlighted include honesty, openness, loyalty, trustworthiness, objectivity, and accountability.
“Integrity means that our People, Processes, and Systems serve as promised in both our Client Value Proposition and Employee Value Proposition,” Mua.
The assistant commissioner has reiterated URA’s firm stance against corruption, asserting that for corruption to thrive, both a giver and a taker 6are required.
Abbey Mawerere, the Manager of Customs for the Northern Region has echoed Mua’s call for open dialogue, urging stakeholders to voice their concerns without fear.
