Three PDM SACCO Leaders Remanded over Theft Of Shs19.5m From Beneficiaries

The State house Anti Graft Unit Criminal Investigations directorate have arraigned Three leaders of the Nakifuma PDM SACCO in Mukono before the Grade One Magistrate's Court Nakifuma on Charges of Conspiracy to Defraud.

 These are;  Kibowa Ronald-Secretary, Nakamya Sophia-Treasurer and Matovu Ben-Chairperson PDM Vetting Committee. The accused, between March and November 2023 conspired to defraud beneficiaries of Nakifuma Ward PDM SACCO of UGX 19,500,000 by removing the eligible members of the SACCO and replacing them with their family members.

They have been remanded until 23rd July 2024.

 Also this week the Anti Graft Unit arraigned Nansikombi Winfred, the Town Clerk- Ndejje Town Council and Male Joseph Nsereko-Town Agent/Parish Chief of Buyego Ward before Chief Magistrate's Court, Luwero on Charges of Theft and Conspiracy to Defraud.

 The accused together with Semayobe James Noah, the District Commercial Officer Luwero who is still on the run, between the months of November and December 2023, during the disbursement of PDM money for 3rd phase in Luwero District, manipulated the beneficiaries list and fraudulently inserted 19 names of their relatives and friends who are not even residents of the area. They went ahead and paid them money leaving out the right beneficiaries of the SACCO.

 Among the persons' inserted, included two daughters of the said Town clerk, who received funds to the detriment of the legitimate beneficiaries.

The duo were remanded until 24/07/2024.
