Two Police Officers Arrested Over Murdering an 18-Year-Old Man.

Police in Yumbe District have in detention 2 officers on charges of murdering an 18 year old man in Kiri trading center Romogi sub county Yumbe district. The victim has been identified as Apeli Ahmed,a Lugbara by tribe and a resident of Gangu village, Lochomgbo parish, Romogi sub county, Yumbe district.

Sp Ojok Stephen OC station Yumbe district reported that on 02/01/24 at around 02:00am, two police officers at Romogi police post one No 76135 PC Ocan Andrew and No 73929 PC Olaya Geoffrey went to enforce sub county bi- law against night discos which had been organized in Akim Yasin's video hall at Kiri trading center 50 meters across the road opposite the police post.

In the process the victim and others became rowdy forcing the officers to fire live bullets in attempt to disperse them resulting in injuring the victim who was later admitted to Arua regional referral hospital where he was pronounced dead on 03/01/2023 at around 08:30am.

Upon receipt of the information, Romogi police post was re-enforced by police officers from Bidibidi police post and UPDF officers. The Scene was visited by OC station, District SOCO and a team of detectives.

"The two officers have been detained pending investigation. Relevant statements recorded. Guns retrieved, exhibited and pending ballistic analysis. The body of the deceased was taken for postmortem at Arua regional referral hospital," Sp Ojok Stephen OC station Yumbe district said.
