Two Town Agents, PDM SACCO Leaders Remanded Over Extortion From Program Beneficiaries

The State House AntiGraft Unit together with CID and ODPP have arraigned two town agents; Kobusingye Esther-Town Agent Kibasi ward, Kibasi Town Council and Godfrey Busingye-Town Agent Kinyererezi ward, Kijura Town Council, two PDM SACCO leaders; Amanyire Fred-Chairperson Kabedde Ward PDM SACCO and Mugabe Robert-Vice Chairperson Kibedde ward PDM SACCO all from Kabarole district before the Chief Magistrates Court in Fortportal on charges relating to extortion of money from several members of various SACCOs and enterprise groups.

 The accused, between the months of November 2023 and September 2024 fraudulently obtained money from several PDM beneficiaries from the villages of Harubaho and Kyamuhoro in Kibasi Town Council and Nyansozi village in Mugusu Town Council claiming it was a prerequisite for processing their funds where as not.

They have been remanded until 14/10/2024.
