UCC Warns Media On Inappropriate, Offensive Content

The Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) haswarned all media platforms on Increasing inappropriate content aired and published in various media channels like Television, Radio Papers and and online.

 "This material, often found in music lyrics, videos, and interviews, frequently features offensive, obscene, and indecent content. All broadcasters are therefore directed to ensure that all content is properly classified by the Media Council before being aired, as required under the Press and Journalist Act, Cap. 105".noted UCC in a public notice issued 17th October 2024.

The Commission indicated that, despite  warnings and reminders to all media houses, in October 2023 , some broadcasters continue to disregard the legal obligations.

UCC however has warned that failure to comply with  the law will result in legal consequences
