Uganda Worker Dies inside Chinese Factory.

Detectives attached to Matuga police station are investigating circumstances under which a Ugandan worker died inside a Chinese factory.

The deceased has been identified as Kayanga Martin 26yrs who has been working as a causal worker at the Chinese factory known as China Jiang steel and iron located in Buwonzi village along Sanga- Semuto road in Matuga a Kampala suburb.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the deceased was working with his colleagues when he slid and fell into a rolling machine that he was operating, resulting in his untimely death.

He said the machine was immediately stopped, and the victim was rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“The police responded swiftly to the incident and upon arrival at the scene, found that the victim had already been removed from the machine. The crime scene was documented, photographed, and swabs were collected from the roller machine, along with the suspected remains of the deceased, as part of the ongoing investigations”, Owoyesigyire added.

Owesigyire has cautioned companies to prioritize the safety and well-being of their employees, especially those who work in hazardous environments.

The loss of a young life he said is a somber reminder of the importance of implementing strict safety protocols and procedures in workplaces to prevent such occurrences.
