The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba has emphasised the urgent need for collaboration between Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions(ODPP) and Criminal Investigations Directorate(CID) saying that criminals are getting smarter and crimes like online scams, money laundering, terrorism, human trafficking, and drug trafficking are becoming more common.
The Police boss made these remarks as he visited CID Headquarters in Kibuli for a coordination meeting ahead of President Museveni official visit scheduled for Tomorrow Thursday, Spyreports has established.
The two-day event brings together top officials, including: · Inspector General of Uganda Police Force, Abas Byakagaba, Director of CID, Tom Magambo, Director of Public Prosecutions, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, Investigators, prosecutors, and key stakeholders.
IGP Byakagaba urged participants to discuss more on corruption among the security officials so as Uganda attains a corrupt free society.
He added that the trend is now changing from the narrative that only the small fish were being arrested on corruption but now Ministers, Legislators and other top government official vowing to continue support the Police force.
The police chief also appealed to the security officers to always be mindful about professionalism, integrity and protection of human rights while excuting their duties.
Director of Public Prosecutions, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo noted that, they aim to equip prosecutors and investigators to drive positive change in Uganda's communities.
