Butcher Man Hacks Police Officer Over Enforcing Quarantine Restrictions In Ibanda District

Police in Iband district have arrested a man identified as Mwesigye Kelesensio age 50 years a resident of o Ryamutamba cell, Mabonwa parish, Rukiri s/county, Ibanda District over attempted murder by cutting off a police Najuna Justus aged 34yrs attached to Ibanda CPS as SOCO.

Police revealed that on 24th February 2024, a team of Police officers from Ibanda CPS led by Oc Cid, D/Asp Oumo Cooper booked out to Mabonwa on information of people who slaughter cows illegally and supply meat which is mostly like to cause the spread of infectious diseases to establish the facts of the matter.

It should be noted that Ibanda is under quarantine due to Anthrax disease with restrictions to movement and slaughtering of animals since 19th January 2024.

The team arrived at Mabonwa at the said place (scene) and took cover until the suspects finished slaughtering and skinning a cow.

The team moved to the suspects and introduced themselves as officers from Ibanda CPS as the five suspects accepted they were in the wrong and put down their pangas and knives.

In just a moment one other suspect came from the banana plantation with banana leaves and cut a Police officer (D/cpl Najuna Justus) on the neck and the Police officer fell down police said

The suspect followed him to cut him again that's when a colleague PC Okello Monday rescued him by releasing a bullet that hit the suspect in the thigh.

Both the Police officer and suspect are admitted at Ruhoko Health Center IV for treatment. The exhibit of the meat was recovered together with pangas and knives as investigations are still ongoing.
