Go and Study For the Rank-IGP Sends 42 Police Chiefs For One Year Course
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Martin Okoth Ochola has sent a total of 42 senior police officers for a one year Senior Command and Staff Course at Bwebajje College.
The officers are among the newly promoted Police Chiefs. Some of the officers who will enrol in the 7th Intake include CP Polly Namaye the Deputy Police spokesperson, CP Phillip Achayi, Deputy Traffic Commander, CP Hilary Kulayigye Deputy Director CPC, ACP Norman Musinga, RPC Rwenzori East, ACP Manzi David who is under Counter terrorism. Others who will under go the same course are, Dr Nanyonga Rose, Akwango Ester, Bwamugisha Ben, Bwongero Olivia, Kihanda Hassan,Kushemererwa James, Matte Godfrey, Arinyo Patrick, Kushemererwa Caroline among others.
According to the message, officers must report to school on August 1.
The officers who will attend the course range from the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP) to Superitendant of Police (SP).
"All officers who have been selected for one year Course must hand over their offices and prepare them selves for the course," reads part of the IGP' s message.
The message further says any delay in reporting to school will lead to cancellation of the course and will attract a punishment of either dismissal from the Force or deduction of the rank.
Recently IGP said every police officer who gets promoted from one rank to another must go for the course. "Free ranks ended in the past regimes. Note that this is a new regime where police officers must go for a course after attaining a new rank," says IGP Ochola.
He further warned police officers to maintain maximum discipline while at course. "Some officers while at course always dodge and go for alcohol drinking and they end up failing the course. This time round those who fail will also be charged for wastage of government resources," Says IGP.
