Hoima District Officials Convicted on Charges of Forgery
Hoima District officials have today been convicted and sentenced on charges of forgery. The Anti-Corruption Court convicted the 3 officials after they forged executive commitee minutes alleging that they had been authorized to hire out road equipment to private individuals where as not.
The officials are; Vice chairperson Chiche Benson, Secretary for production Magambo Jackson and secretary for Finance Kumakech Geoffrey.
The officials who have been on trial since 2021 were arrested by State House Anti Corruption unit together with Uganda Police Force after a complaint was recieved that the accused were allegedly hiring out District road equipment to private business man in Kiryandongo District.
The District Road construction equipment included a vibral roller and grader. Working together with Police, the matter was investigated and the equipment was recovered and handed over to Ministry of Works.
The accused have been handed a sentence of paying a cash fine UGX5M each.
