Luwero Bishop Kisekka Consecrated, To Prioritize Gospel Preaching And Environmental Protection.

Luwero diocese has celebrated Palm Sunday with the consecration and enthronement of Reverend Canon Wilson Kisekka as the 4th bishop of the Luwero diocese after the nullification of the appointment of Rev. Can. Godfrey Kasana Ssemakula.

The 53-year-old Kisekka replaces Bishop Emeritus Eldard Nsubuga who abdicated in July 2023 after clocking the mandatory age of 65.

This church was established in 1904 with a seating capacity of 500 and now sitting over 10000 people.

General Edward Katumba Wamala the Works and Transport Minister is represented by President Yoweri Museveni at this function held at St Mark Cathedral in Luwero town. Buganda Lukiiko Speaker Patrick Mugumbule and other dignitaries present.

President Yoweri Museveni delivered by Gen Katumba Wamala noted that Humman's needs must be satisfied as believers have to work hard to satisfy these needs and the church should continue partnering with the government for development

programs like Emyooga, and PDM Youth Livelihood programs and encourage people to engage in commercial agriculture.The president promised to donate shs50 million for the new bishop to start his pastoral work.

The Central Buganda bishop Micheal Lubowa, the chief preacher appealed to the new bishop to unite the believers in the diocese.

Bishop Lubowa asked the new bishop to invite back Rev. Godfrey Kasana so that they work together and ask the flock to forgive each other and work for the development of their diocese.

Bishop Wilson Kisekka in his inaugural speech promised to empower church departments and train more servants of God in his tenure as the 4th bishop of Luwero. He is to encourage outdoor and door-to-door spreading of the gospel as well as protecting the environment.

Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu appealed for the new bishop to be a good shepherd and urged all Christians to forgive one another and seek the lord as their savior.

He also prayed for reconciliation among the flock for the development of the diocese.
