Motorvehicle Robber Hangs Self Inside Police Custody, All Officers On Duty Arrested

Yumbe district is faced with a tragic incident of a motor vehicle suspect committing suicide by hanging himself in a police cell. The OC Lodonga police station, No. 22797 Sgt Ondia Jovan, who reported the incident together with other officers on duty have been arrested as investigations continue.

The deceased has been identified as Adebuga Siragi a peasant aged 34 years and a resident of Odokibo cell, Iba ward, Lodonga town council, Yumbe district.

The police report indicates that the deceased was arrested on the 3/12/2023 at around 10:00am on charges of stealing a vehicle to wit motorcycle vide lodonga CRB 83/2023. The wife of the deceased visited him at around 05:00pm with food but he refused to eat. 

At around 08:00pm, when the reporter (OC) was for normal checkup of the cells, he found the deceased had hanged himself using a piece of blanket which he tied on the timber of the roofing.

A team of police officers led by the OC station visited the scene of crime pending intervention of the coroner. The reporter (OC Lodonga) and all police officers attached to lodonga police station have been charged.
