Police Arrests 8 City Assailants for Robbing Kyambogo University Student, Natete Business Man.
Police in Natete has arrested eight suspects in connection with a spate of robberies that have been reported in different parts of the city. The suspects were apprehended after a police patrol team responded to a distress call from a victim who had been attacked by a group of men on motorcycles.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patrick Onyango , the first victim, Namutebi Leticia, a student at Kyambogo University, was attacked on February 18th by men on four motorcycles who robbed her of her iPhone and money. He also said that one of the attackers had a sharp panga which he used to threaten her.
“On 18 Feb.23 Natete police station received a complaint from Namutebi Leticia a student at Kyambogo University alleging that she was attacked by men who were on four motorcycles and robbed her of an iphone and money
She said while trying to defend herself one man pulled a sharp panga which had been hidden beneath the seat of the motor cycle”, Onyango said.
The second victim, Ssekatawa Juma, was robbed of his phone on March 7th by a group of people who were also on motorcycles. Fortunately, the police patrol team was nearby and responded to the distress call, but the robbers managed to escape, leaving behind one motorcycle with the registration number UFQ 952Y.
The police used intelligence and their CCTV team to trace the suspects to Kawempe Nkere zone. So far, eight suspects have been arrested, and some of them have confessed to the crimes.

Kigongo Farouk
Sserugo Mesach aka Misi
Wakabi Amis
Some of the suspects have also confessed to being part of the same group that has been operating in areas of Namungona, Lubiri in Mengo, and Kawempe. The police are still investigating the case and are yet to impound three motorcycles that the suspects used and to arrest one Otim.
