Police Arrests Kenyan Woman Who Got a Ugandan National ID from NIRA Using False Information

Detectives at Jinja Road Police have in detention a Kenyan woman who got a Ugandan National Identification Card from the National Identification and Registration Authority NIRA using false information.

Wanyonyi Sylvia Nanjala, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday 30/05/2023 from the Directorate of Industrial Training and detained at Jinja Road Police as investigations  commenced. She came to Uganda using a Kenyan Passport in the Names of WANYONYI SYLVIA NANJALA and later got a working permit in Uganda on same name.

She later got married to Ugandan man (Muganda) from Luwero they produced one girl and in less than one year they broke off and she went back to Kenya and got legal marriage to a man called KAPYAI KESIA AKENYAN and they have 02 children and all stay in Uganda.

In 2005 to 2008 She got the Ugandan pass port in the names of Nazziwa Rachael and in 2019 she applied for National Identity card from NIRA in the names of WANYONYI SYLVIA NANJALA and she got it.

A whistleblower by the name Joel Trust Kalyowa told detectives that the suspect managed to get land in Nama in Mukono district, after she defrauded a white Man called David Ballard the Director of Green Pasture International a Non Governmental Organization NGO.

"The land was bought in her names because the NGO by then was not registered by the time the company was duly registered," Kalyowa told detectives. 

She was told to transfer the land into the names of the NGO which she refused on premise that the land title was got in her names and later transferred in the names of her Ugandan daughter.

Since she got married to Kasirye the Ugandan she has never processed any of her documents in the names of Kasirye but she only uses Kasirye on court cases to get justice on the umbrella of marriage and yet she is currently married to a Kenyan man whom they are staying together and also working in Uganda without any documents or working permit.

A report from NIRA confirms that she's a Kenyan and her application was stopped in the New Identification Register and the said National Identity Card  was recovered from her.

The suspect is charged with a case of giving NIRA  false information to get a Ugandan National ID vide CRB 529/2023 of Jinja Rd police station.
