Police Foil Murder and Robbery of Top Business Man in Luwero
The Territorial Police of Kasana Town Council in Luwero District is currently conducting an active investigation into a case of conspiracy to commit murder. The incident occurred on July 12, 2023, at around 7:00 PM in Kasana Kavule Village, Kasana Town Council, Luwero District.
According to the allegations, Kizito Moses, the complainant and survivor in this case, owns a hardware store in Kakolo Zone, adjacent to the hardware store of the suspect, Ssemambo Swaibu. It is believed that due to business competition, Ssemambo Swaibu conspired with another individual named Baguma Stephen to hire killers and eliminate Kizito Moses. Ssemambo Swaibu entrusted Baguma Stephen with the task of finding the perpetrators.
Baguma Stephen allegedly visited Makindye Military Barracks, where he established contact with someone named Afande Lukwago, who further connected him with Private Atiti Abudal (RA 261250), a UPDF officer attached to the 16th Battalion at Makindye Military Barracks. They agreed on a fee of 13 million shillings for the mission.
However, Atiti Abudal decided to inform Kizito Moses about the plot, who in turn notified the District Police Commander (DPC) and the crime intelligence unit. "Swift action was taken, and a trap was set up by crime intelligence officers, along with a team of detectives and non-uniformed personnel led by OC ASP Oluka Francis. This led to the arrest of Ssemambo Swaibu and Baguma Stephen," ASP Twineamazima Sam the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Savannah Region said.
Upon their arrest, the suspects confessed, and an exhibit of 2 million shillings, intended for Atiti Abudal, was recovered. "A case of conspiracy to commit murder has been registered, and the crime scene has been visited and statements recorded. The investigation is ongoing, and further inquiries are being conducted," Twineamazima added.
