President Uganda Law Society Isaac Ssemakadde Petitions Chief Justice Over Besigye's Kidnap, Trial In Military Court.
The Uganda Law Society President Isaac Ssemakadde has petitioned the chief justice of Uganda Owiny Dollo challenging prosecution of civilians in military tribunals .
Ssemakadde says that the recent detention of Kizza Besigye after his abduction and rendition from Kenya is symptomatic of deeper exacerbated malaise.
"The ubiquity of unmitigated prosecutorial misconduct, a police-to-prison pipeline, and judicial decisions that seem motivated by interests far removed from legal principles". He said.
" We are facing a judicial crisis that threatens to unravel the very fabric of rule of law in Uganda". Added Ssemakadde.
Ssemakadde writing to Chief Justice from his seek leave urged him to consider judgement on constitutional appeals on the same.
