Rakai District Donates Land To Judiciary For The Construction Of A Courthouse
Rakai District team led by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Katusabe Beatrice and the District Surveyor formally handed over to the Judiciary two acres of land for the construction of a courthouse and staff houses.
 This was followed by the sub-division of the land and signing of all the transfer documents which was done in the presence of the Ag. Chief Magistrate, HW Vueni Raphael, who was accompanied by the Rakai Senior Magistrate Grade I, Her Worship Kalule Emmanuel.
 While supervising the exercise, the CAO said, “we have a very strong partnership and collaboration with the Judiciary in the district. We have seen the conditions in which the court operates in Rakai. And the District agreed that they (the courts) deserve better premises.” She thanked the Ag. Chief Magistrate for ensuring that the issue of land for the Judiciary in Rakai is actualized.
 The CAO urged the Judiciary to “urgently” reciprocate the gesture of the district by ensuring that the land is utilized for its intended purpose.
The Acting Chief Magistrate commended the district political and technical leadership for the donation of the two acres of land and for the cooperation in the district. He also extended his appreciation to the Judiciary leadership for prioritizing funding the titling process. He said his team is committed to improved service delivery.
 *How it all began* On September 21, 2023, the Rakai District Coordination Committee held at Rakai Chief Magistrates Court resolved that the Ag. Chief Magistrate, would engage the District leadership over the issue of land for construction of courthouses. As a result of these engagements, the matter was tabled before Rakai District Council and during the Council meeting of October 31, 2023, approved the proposal and passed a resolution to donate two acres of land to Judiciary out of Block No. 111, Plot 13, Kooki County located in Kyewakula village, Kiwaguzi Parish, Lawanda Sub-County in Rakai.
This donation was brought to the attention of the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to Judiciary, Dr Pius Bigirimana by the CAO. In turn, the Permanent Secretary requested the CAO to transfer the land title to Uganda Land Commission, Judiciary which was done.
