The president noted that fighting poverty is a joint effort for all believers the religions leaders.
President Museveni in company with the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni have officiated this year's Martyrs day cerebration at Catholic site Namugongo.
Museveni commended the believers and leaders in Uganda for adopting the NRM ideology and opposed sectarians in form of religion and tribe and promised more support to finish Namugongo as asked by the clergy.
He however criticized the Africa news that he said is diverted they no-longer talk about African Integration but rather promote western world events like sports.
The president warned Homosexuals that Uganda is a land of martyrs and warned them against joking with the country he said is full of blessings.
"Some of the speakers have talked about corruption. I agree, that corruption is becoming a problem [in Uganda] and when I address the state of the nation, I'll talk about it in detail," President Kaguta Museveni has told pilgrims at the Catholic martyrs' shrine in Namugongo during the Martyrs' Day Celebrations on June 3, 2024.
The Most Rev Dr Henry Ndukuba, Archbishop of Nigeria who has been the chief preacher at the Anglican shrine Nakiyanja Namugongo commended president Museveni and his government for allowing Ugandan Christians and people of other faiths to practice their beliefs.

''The Church in Uganda stands firm because of God's holy word and the sacrifices of those who were martyred for their faith in God. I am amazed by the many people who have traveled long distances to come here and worship. Archbishop of nigeria''. ndukuba remarked.
He thanked the Church of Uganda for leading the way in combating doubtful activities against our faith and the church.
''I urge everyone to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, especially after celebrating the faith displayed by the Uganda Martyrs, which I believe has proven to be a strong foundation of faith''. The Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba noted

He approuds president Museveni for the consistent support for the cathoric church in uganda and the support for the martyrs day before revealing that the pavilion is incomplete and are still looking for more suport to have namugongo completed and becomes one of the major tourist attractions in uganda.
