Some National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPs have joined their counterparts in the Opposition, demanding the immediate recall of Parliament from recess and having the top leadership at Parliament respond to the allegations of corruption and abuse of office that have been unearthed on social media.
Known as the rebel National Resistance Movement members of Parliament, Hon.Ssekikubo was accompanied by Barnabas Tinkasimire (Buyaga West) made the remarks during a press briefing at Parliament where they called out Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja for issuing a directive, ordering the Clerk to Parliament to rescind his earlier communication he had sent out to reconvene plenary sitting, describing Nabbanja’s actions as a capture of the legislature by the Executive.
Ssekikuubo revealed that MPs received a notice from Clerk to Parliament, Hon.Adolf Mwesige informing MPs of a plenary sitting but the meeting was unceremoniously called off through an order from the Prime Minister, stopping the plenary sitting, a decision Ssekikuubo described as strange.
Various social media platforms are covered by allegations of corruption and abuse of office at all levels
On the same note, Rubaga division Deputy Resident City Commissioner Harbert Anderson Burora criticized the members of parliament for keeping a deaf heart when public funds are being misused in the parliament.
Burora said that members of parliament keeping silent on the trending allegations of looting of funds amongst themselves will incite violence.
He added that the same members of parliament impeached Hon. Namuganza overwhelmingly for personal disagreements with the speaker and questions as to why the parliament would wait for the public to take action which he said can cost the nation more than resolving this impasse in time.
