Stay Home And Be Counted- Kyabazinga Tells Busoga People
"I will stay here at Igenge palace on Friday such that I can be counted," he says. Kyabazinga also assured UBOS of his total support during this Census. "We have people right from the grassroots so it will be so easier to pass the message," He says adding that Busoga will work with UBOS to make the census successful. "Busoga will benefit a lot from the Census because the data will help in proper planning and without it nothing much can be done," He States.
He also thanked UBOS for having agreed to set up a statistics office where you will train our people and attach somebody to help us in terms of gathering and carrying out statistical data analysis and interpretation.
"We shall sign an MOU such that this kind of arrangement can commence as soon as possible," Reveals Kyabazinga. He adds that UBOS can carry out more training and we hope to benefit from them.
"I take this opportunity to inform you that there are few days to census. I call upon you to participate in the census and allow it to be counted. When we are counted it will help us know our incomes, to know the number of our people such that we can properly plan for them and understand where we need to improve and develop Busoga," His Majesty says.
The UBOS ED Dr Chris Mukiza thanked the Kyabazinga for accepting his invitation and update him in the forthcoming Census. Dr Mukiza also informed Kyabazinga that UBOS finished almost all pre-census activities starting with the Census roadmap, budget, and pieces of training among others. " We have trained enumerators and their supervisors.
These are field soldiers who will be coming to your homes for information, "He says. He further tells Kyabazinga that this census will be digital in nature. " We are no longer going to come with huge files of papers. We shall be using tablets," Says Dr Mukiza adding that within one month, he will give the Country preliminary results instead of two to three years. Dr Mukiza adds that UBOS will set up a Statistics office in Busoga.
"We have written to your administration about setting up a statistics office unit because we know that kingdoms are lynch-pin for social transformation of this Country," He says adding you can not achieve this if you don't have evidence which is data and statistics. He further says the office will be equipped with a computer, laptop, and two statisticians from the kingdom to be attached to UBOS for one year.
He adds they will start with the signing of the MOU. "After Census, we shall give you some tablets to keep collecting administrative data from your 11 chiefdoms," he says adding that the general statistical report has been projecting the kingdom as one of the poorest. "We hope these statistics will help your kingdom and government to address these indicators," Says Dr Mukiza.
