The Kassanda territorial police are actively investigating a case of murder and aggravated robbery that occurred on 17.07.2023 at around 4:00 am in Ntuuma village, Kamulinjagala parish, Kassanda subcounty, Kassanda district. The victim, Oneni Patrick, was a 47-year-old male adult and a resident of Namuganga village, Nalutuntu subcounty in Kassanda District. He worked as a driver and owned a motor vehicle with registration number UBN 158N, which he used for his transport business.
According to preliminary findings, the deceased received a phone call from an unknown customer at around 4:00 am, who claimed to have work involving the transportation of charcoal. Oneni woke up and drove his vehicle to meet the unknown customer. However, at around 7:00 am, a person named Kasumba Henry discovered blood, mobile phones, and a laptop bag along the road while on his way to the garden in Ntuuma village. After searching further, he found Oneni's lifeless body lying in the nearby bush.
The police were informed and promptly responded to the scene of the crime. It was determined that the deceased had been struck with a hammer on the head and his neck had been hacked. "The crime scene was thoroughly examined and documented, and relevant statements were recorded to aid in the investigation. Various exhibits, including a hammer, two mobile phones, and a bag, were recovered at the crime scene and will be submitted for forensic analysis. Additionally, it was discovered that the victim's motor vehicle, registered as UBN 158N, had been stolen.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Kassanda HCIV for a postmortem examination. The police are making every effort to apprehend the suspects involved in this crime and bring them to justice," SP Kawala Racheal PRO Wamala Region said.
