UDC Awarded As Best Visionary Gov't Development Agency

Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) which is the industrialisation arm of Government has been awarded the best Visionary Government Development Agency for the year 2023. UDC scooped the award during the 11th Visionaries of Uganda Awards, the function was held at Serena Hotel in Kampala. It was presided over by the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister Hon Rukia Nsanga Nakadama and was graced by several cabinet Ministers that Included Matia Kassaija Finance, Hon Muruli Mukasa Public service, Hon Mwebesa Trade and Cooperatives, Obiga Mania,Urbanisation, Peter Lokeris State Minister for Energye among others.
During his remarks Finance Minister Kassaija thanked President Museveni for having vision which has enabled Uganda to transform from one stage to another. "Before we went to the Bush with President Museveni in 1981, we had a vision of transforming Uganda from peasant Country to Industrialisation," he says adding that by 2030 their vision will be fully accomplished. He adds that without a vision you can not developed. "Without Vision you are perished," Stresses Minister Kassaija. He further says the economy's vision is to increase the GDP of the Country. State Minister for Energy and Mineral develop Hon Peter Lokeris says the youth must think on how to bring development and later find solution to the problems. "We must mobilise resources in order to achieve our visions and goals," he says adding that we need knowledge to change and have value addition. "Our vision through UDC is to increase Industrialisation, create market for our products and increase employment for Ugandans," He sounded adding that UDC must also attract investors. He says we must be innovative to improve on human resource.
The Principal Judge Hon Justice Flavian Zeija who represented Judicially says what is hindering industrialisation and economic growth is Corruption and mismanagement of resources. "If we are to transform our economic growth and development, we must all join hands and fight corruption in Uganda," He says adding that corruption is promoted by private sectors. 5% of Government revenue is lost every year due to corruption and Fraud, He states . "As Judiciary we have strengthened justice Law and Order sector to fight corruption and we punish culprits," He says adding Judicially wants zero tolerance to corruption. He further says they have created more courts to end case back log which cost government a lot of money. "Cases must be heard on time to avoid waste of government resources," he says.
Among the people who were awards in different categories included Hon Nakadama, Kassaija, Mwebesa, obiga Kania, Peter Lokeris among others. Companies which also scooped awards alongside UDC included, National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) Stabex for best petroleum Company, National Drugs Authority, Post Bank,Equal Opportunities, Dairy Development Authority, NARO, UgaFode among others.
