Army Deserter, Seven Suspected Notorious Robbers Arrested
Police in Kampala collaborating with the flying squad and crime intelligence have apprehended a hardened robbery gang that had been terrorizing areas within Kampala Metropolitan, including Mukono, Namasuba, and Bulenga.
The group, consisting of seven members, utilized four motorcycles with registration numbers UGG 950L, UDN 457C, UEW 888A, and UGC 825D, to carry out their crimes.
They operated in a group of eight, with four riders and four passengers, all armed with pangas.
Their primary targets were betting centers and slot machine shops.
These Include Nsabamungu Joseph, 27, masterminder and pretended informer, Kayita Stephen, 28, Baligeya Shafik, 22 yesrs, Musimami Nicoles, 30 and Kakato Adrain, 21.
Others are Riyinza Asuman, 27 years and No. R222701 Kibuuka Lawrence, 37, an army deserter.
The gang attacked three scenes, stealing 2 million shillings in Bulenga, 1.9 million shillings in Namasuba, and 1.8 million shillings in Mukono Centre.
SSP Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson noted that, the Pangas used in the robberies were hidden along Mpererwe road, around Kanyanya. - The army deserter received 150,000 to 200,000 shillings after each operation. - Nsabamungu Joseph, the commander, kept all army belongings.
The operation is ongoing to ensure public safety and peace in the communities.Added Onyango
