Ugandans Mourn The Passing Of Former Attorney General Kiddu Makubuya
The former Attorney General of Uganda Prof. Dr.Kiddu Makubuya has been confirmed dead on Monday morning after a prolonged battle with a severe illness.
Makubuya has died at the age of 75 years old.
It should be recalled that, in June this year, rumors circulated about Makubuya’s demise, but the family promptly dismissed them, stating that he was still alive and receiving treatment.
“Prof. Makubuya is not yet dead… it is only his health handlers that can pronounce him dead,” said William Ntege, a family member, at the time.
He was Born on July 30, 1949 and was an accomplished legal scholar and practitioner.
He graduated with a first-class honors Law degree from Makerere University in 1974, followed by a Master of Laws degree and a Doctor of Juridical Science from Yale Law School in 1976 and 1979, respectively. He also obtained a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre between 1981 and 1982. In 1985, he was enrolled as an advocate of the Uganda High Court.
He served the university in various capacities including Dean, HoD, Member of Senate Committee among others at Makerere
A Veteran Politician Makubuya entered politics in 1988 and was elected as a Member of Parliament in 1996, representing Katikamu South in Luwero district.
He held various ministerial positions, including State Minister for Luwero Triangle in the Office of the President, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Education and Sports.
