UPDF Officer Robs Mobile Money Agent On Gun Point, Arrested

Police officers attached to Kawempe police station are having in their custody a UPDF officer and a civilian counterpart who robbed a mobile agent millions of money on gun point. The suspects have been identified as Kyaligonza Robert UPDF officer, and Ssekyanzi Elia. According to Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy Police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the robbery happened on Monday at around 11am in Maganjo Zone in Wakiso District. He says police officers became so suspicious when they saw two people carrying bags. "The officers suspected that the duo could be carrying stolen properties because they were avoiding police checks on the way," He says adding that they were pursued and arrested. He adds that upon arrest, Kyaligonza was found with a star pistol with 8 rounds of ammunitions. "After interrogation, the suspects confessed to have robbed a Mobile money agent in maganjo owned by Muwonge Eddy," says Owoyesigyire. He further says Kyaligonza was previously implicated in theft cases and was arrested by UPDF. He says the recovered gun has been taken by forensic expert to ascertain if it had ever been used in city robberies. The suspects will face charges of aggravated robbery in courts of law soon when investigations are done.
