UPDF, Police Arrest Top City Robber and Buyer behind Stealing Motor vehicle Spare Parts.

Police have arrested a suspected serial thief who has been stealing from vehicles for the past two years. The suspect, Bukenya Rogers, was caught red-handed carrying suspected stolen parts of a vehicle. The defense secretary of Kabaga-Kayanga zone in Kiteezi Ward, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District, alerted the police and Uganda People Defence Forces-UPDF about the suspect.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Luke Owoyesigyire, said Bukenya admitted to stealing breaking lights, side mirrors, and four switch locks from a motor vehicle (registration number UBH 533C fielder) belonging to Sekasanvu Andrew. “Bukenya Rogers confessed to being a serial thug who had been stealing from various vehicles for the last two years. He revealed that he and his accomplices usually sold the stolen spare parts to a man on Zion Plaza at Kiseka market”.

Oweyesigyire also said that further investigations led to the arrest of Bukenya’s promoter, Nagaba Nicholas, who had come to buy the stolen items. The police recovered the stolen properties, which were worth 3,100,000/=.

The case file will be forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for advice when investigations are done. Meanwhile, the police have commended the vigilant defense secretary and his team for their efforts in intercepting the suspect. The public is urged to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
