URA Chases Top Seven Senior Staffs over Corruption.
Uganda Revenue Authority "URA" has dismissed seven of its Senior staff members after investigations into corruption scandals have implicated them. The chased senior staffs have been identified as; Edward Okumu Jacob (Officer Domestic Taxes), David Kisakye (Officer Domestic Taxes), Jorem Emokori (Officer Domestic Taxes), Bernadette Nsungwa (Officer Domestic Taxes), Anthony Emongu (Officer Assistant), Ivan Kankakee (Manager Customs), Assy Nantongo Ssali (Manager Domestic Taxes).
Their dismissal comes shortly after president Museveni warned URA that he is aware of the racket that extorts money from investors adding that these thugs intimidate investors that if they don't give them something, they will over charge them. "Am aware of the racket of corrupt people in URA and I even have their names. These corrupt people intimidate investors telling them if they don't give them bribes, they will over charge them," president Museveni said last week while presiding over labor Day celebration. President Museveni added that he was going to create a new unit under State House to deal with corrupt officers. President Museveni later created a unit and appointed Col Edith Nakalema as it's head.
