We Are Not In The Deal To Relocate Luzira Prison- Byabashaija
The Commissioner General of Uganda Prisons Johnson Byabashaija through his Spokesperson Frank Baine has revealed the Prison Authority is not in a deal to relocate Luzira Maximum Prison which was constricted over one century ago, we have established.
A few days ago, information circulated that Luzira Prison would soon relocate from the city center to Buikwe and the land be given to an investor to set up a five-star hotel.
Baine while addressing the media on Monday at police headquarters in Naguru says we have no information about the relocation of Luzira Prison. " Don't ask me any question regarding the relocation of the maximum facility because I don't have any information, " he says.
He added that the responsible offices in the deal are the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Attorney General, and the President.
"I refer anybody for any information about the relocation of Luzira to go the President, Internal Affairs Minister, or Attorney General but not us the lower people," he says.
He further stressed that the deal to sell Luzira prison started way back in 2013 but what happened on the way I don't know. "The matter is being handled by above," he says.
