We Still Have Kawuukumi In CID - AIGP Tom Magambo

The Director in Criminal Investigations in Uganda police (AIGP) Tom Magambo has confirmed that he is still facing the challenge rotten CID officers commonly known as 'Kawukumi in his directorate but he is slowly fighting it and will come to an end soon, Spyreports has learnt.

 Afande Magambo made the remarks while addressing field CID officers at CID headquarters in Kibuli a Kampala suburb.

It should be remembered that Kawukumi in police was first detected by President Museveni and warned the former IGP Gen Kale Kayihura to end it or face the knife and the president went by his words and sacked Gen Kayihura for failure to end Kawukumi in police.

 Magambo in his remarks warned his officers for corriding with criminals in the course of investigations.

 "You are investigating the case and at the end of investigations you find that your CID officer is the Kayungirizi of the criminal," said CID boss adding the case dies at its early stages and termed this as the Kawukumi the President has always talked about.

"I have already reverted three top CID bosses who have been the Kayungirizi of Criminals, and more are facing the same," Asserted AIGP Tom Magambo.

 He added that last year CID had good cases three cases but were hindered by collusion of CID officers with the criminals and all the officers were reverted.

He also warned his CID officers over indiscipline during the investigations. "We still have some cases of indiscipline. "we can not be CID where indiscipline is not fought," He sounds adding that some CID officers are so harsh to Civilians. 

"Some of you CID turn to be rude to wanayich when they come to your offices with problems, you chase them, do not pick their calls and you also become arrogant to them.

 This indiscipline must stop," Orders Magambo.
