Avoid Passport Brokers-Internal Affairs Ministry Warns Public

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned public against people who  convice them to first tract the passport processing and solicit money from them in the names of blockers that the ministry does not deal with an blockers in issuing of paasports.

The ministry also added that recruitment egancies that take workers abroad do not have any relationship with the ministry of Internal Affairs urguing public to embrace E-Passport system. 

''Some report to us that they paid blockers way over the official services for the service yet the official charges are indicated'' said Simon Mundeyi, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

 On the same note Mundeny stated taht a total of 1,655 foreign nationals were suspected of residing illegally in the country adding that some of the immigrants living in the country illegaly are mostly found working in factories,shops,supermarkets,furniture shops allover the country.

From july to december 2023 out 1655 arrested 36 were victims of traffing in person, 309 were deported, 80 had appealed to relevant ministries and still investigated, 62 legalised their documents and now allowed to stay while 23 were found refugees living in uganda who had applied to get papers and were handed to Office of the Prime Minister. 853 had valid identification but had not carried them by the time of arrest as 293 file were closed

in january 2024, a total 0f 348 were investigated of which 27 were deported to their respective countries.

Mudenyi however urged public to contoinue playing their role as wistle blowers in order to comprehend illegal immagrants as some are doing petty jobs that are meant for ungandans.

He said, operations aimed at curbing these illegal immigrants will conntinuen across the country
