Stop Harassing UPDF While Appearing Before Parliament - Warns VP Alupo
The vice President of Uganda Hon Rtd Maj Jessica Alupo has warned members of Parliament who seat on Defence and Internal Affairs Committee to stop harassing UPDF officers when they appear before them, Spyreports can exclusively report.
The vice President made the remarks while launching the National Tarehe Sita week at the Ministry of Defence and veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya Kampala suburb.
"You MPs on defence and internal affairs Committee go slow on UPDF when they come to Parliament," Warns tough talking Jessica Alupo.
It is on record that recently UPDF officers were chased from parliamentary committee when they failed to show up with CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
"UPDF has done a lot with less resources," she says adding that all the peace and stability we are enjoying was out of UPDF sacrifice.
She also urged the young generation to be focused while fulfilling their mission.
"Each generation must discover its mission and full fill it," she says adding President Museveni and his small team discovered their mission and full filled it. She also thanked the first family supporting the president while pursuing his duties.
The Deputy CDF Lt General Sam Okiding who represented CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba thanked him for the unity,bond and he has brought to UPDF.
"I want to thank 41 officers with 27 guns who brought this Country to peace," he said adding that Uganda between 1971 to mid 80s was like a patient in ICU.
He also joking asked Vice President Alupo to hand over power to a person in uniform when she decides to retire.
"Mine is a prayer but the details God will handle," he says.
He further urged people to educate their children to take over from them. "Our young generation should know that blood was shed to have peace and most of them think it came from heaven. Yes God was there but we also sacrificed a lot," he noted.
He also assured the Nation that UPDF will protect,serve the peace and stability of this Nation at all cost. Maj.Gen Herny Matsiko said the Tarehe Sita will be held in Kyotera District but several activities will be done in various parts in greater Masaka. He says on 5th Feb UPDF will hand over all the done projects to the community and they include classroom blocks, Markets, mosques, hospitals among others.
He further says that several activities will be done in greater masaka during Army week and they include HIV screening, Family planning,Optical services, Dental Etc. He said several companies and individuals have supported UPDF in preparation for Tarehe Sita and they include,Sadoline which contributed Paint worth shs 63.4m, Centenary Bank 10m, Stanbick Bank, NEC, Ministry of Health among others.
