Unidentified Thugs Break Into Bukalasa MZO, Prompting Urgent Investigation

The Ministry of Lands was attacked by unidentified criminals who executed a brazen break-in at the Bukalasa MZO (Ministry Zonal Office) during the night of June 20, 2023. The Minister State for Lands, Hon Dr. Sam Mayanja, expressed regret over the incident and assured the public that immediate action has been taken to address the situation.

The audacious burglars managed to gain entry into several internal offices, where they seized various government equipment, including computers and paper records. Fortunately, their attempts to access the highly secure strong room, which houses crucial land titles, were unsuccessful. This vital information remains protected.

Authorities have confirmed that the server room remained untouched during the break-in. The backup and data recovery site, which contains essential information, remains intact and unaltered. As a precautionary measure, the server has been temporarily shut down until the investigation concludes and proper authorization is granted for the restoration of services.

Urgent notification was made to the Uganda Police Force immediately after the discovery of the invasion. In response, law enforcement agencies swiftly cordoned off Bukalasa MZO to facilitate a thorough investigation. The Wobulenzi and Luwero Police have been entrusted with carrying out the inquiries to identify the culprits and determine the motive behind this audacious act.

Minister Sam Mayanja urged the public to remain calm and patient during this challenging time. He assured citizens that the government is fully committed to ensuring a swift and comprehensive investigation into the break-in. Measures are being put in place to enhance security and prevent such incidents in the future.
