IGG, IGP Order For Arrest Of KCCA Public And Corporate Affairs Head Over Obstructing Investigations Into Kiteezi Garbage Slide
The Deputy Inspecor General of Government Anne Twino Muhairwe and the Inspector General of Police Abass Byakagaba have order the arrest of Kampala Capital City Authority Head of Public and Corporate Affairs, Daniel NuweAbiine, for obstructing IGG investigations into the garbage slide at Kiteezi.
He reportedly instructed KCCA officers who recorded statements not to sign.
This followed the deputy IGG's visit to Kiteezi landfill and promised to take action on any gov't official who did not take action to avoid the disaster of the garbage slide if investigations reveal negligence.
Statements from KCCA staff on ground have sofar been recorded.
This action is as a result of the President Yoweri Museveni's directive to the Inspector General of Government and the Prime minister to expeditiously investigate the matter and furnish to him with the report.
The president directed the Prime Minister to co-ordinate the removal of all the house-holds in the danger zone, in addition to ensuring the recovery, if possible of the People still buried in the rubbish.

Kiteezi had a structural failure in waste mass resulting in a collapsed section of the landfill claimed lives of people and destruction of proerty like homes and animals.

By the time publication of this story, a strategic meeting involving the state house controller, ministers, IGG, IGP was underway.
Police have so far deployed excavators on the rescue mission to save lives.
