Zaake Welcomes The Party's Decision To Nominate Him As Parliamentary Commissioner.

National Unity platform party National Executive Committee yesterday resolved to recall Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga from the position of parliamentary commissioner following his failure to satisfy the party on corruption allegations.

The party further nominated Hon. Francis Zaake to replace Hon Mpuuga as parliamentary commissioner a decision which Zaake has eagerly welcomed.

''I want to assure everyone that I will serve with utmost dedication, never bringing shame to our party, but always upholding our core values. Together, let's make a difference and represent the people with integrity''.Zaake said.

This will be the second time for Zaake to be entrusted with the parliamentary commissioner position.

Shortly after Zaake was vetted, he was impeached by fellow Members of Parliament on March 10, 2022, and he filed a constitutional petition challenging how he was removed from the Office of Commissioner of Parliament, which he says has since cost him all the privileges, entitlements, and responsibilities.

The five judges of the Constitutional Court noted that there were less than half of the MPs present in the house when Zaake was voted out of the commission, which is against Rule 84(1) of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament.

Only 161 MPs were in plenary, of whom 155 voted to expel Zaake.

Charles Rwomushana a political analyst noted that all the Kyagulanyi Nyanzi Kunga networks that were fighting Mpugga and Dr Bwanika Abed mobilised for Muhoozi Kainerugaba Masaka entry yesterday.
