President Museveni has appointed Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo as the new Chief Justice, replacing Justice Bart Katureebe who attained retirement in June.
Justice Owiny-Dollo was the deputy Chief Justice and was appointed acting Chief Judge after resignation of Justice Bart Katureebe.
Justice Owiny-Dollo has served in the position since August 2017 after replacing Steven Kavuma, who attained the mandatory retirement age of 70 years, on 29 September 2017.
He will be deputized by Justice Richard Buteera.
The new Chief Justice who hails from present-day Agago District holds a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University, and a Diploma in Legal Practice, from the Law Development Centre in Kampala, Uganda’s largest city and capital.
