Police officers attached to Nakulabye police station last night fired several bullets to a group of assailants who had raided the station with the aim of killing police officers and take away guns, SpyrReports has learnt.
According to information obtained by Spy reports, a group of unknown assailants at around 4:00am armed with AK 47 riffles raided the station and were heading to the Armoury to break it and take away guns.
A police source who was at night duty told us his colleague Teki Robert who had taken cover in one of the motor vehicles after seeing the gunmen advancing Armoury, released several bullets towards the attackers.
The source says the attackers abandoned AK magazine with 30 rounds of ammunitions and took off.
"When we foiled the attackers' mission of raiding the station, we called our bosses from Old Kampala police station and informed about what transpired in the night," Says another police officer who worked night.
He added the case file under SD Ref 07/11/2022 and Kawala CRB 345/2022 were respectively opened as investigations started.
He added that the DPC,OC Station, OCID and police Socks visited the scene, interviewed officers who worked at night and other eye witnesses and their statement were taken.
"Police dogs were brought in to help in investigations moved a few meters and later lost truck," Says another police detective.
He added that police is now reviewing CCTV footages to get the attackers.
By press time, there was heavy deployment at Nakulabye police station.
"We have resumed our normal duty under tight security deployment both in Uniform and plain cloth," Says another police officer.
