The Ministry of Health Uganda has confirmed 99 new COVID19 cases out of the samples tested on 23rd August, 2020.This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 2,362.
Of the confimed cases are 84 contacts and alerts with 49 from Kampala, 8 from Kikuube, 5 from Gulu, 4 from Sironko, 3 from Lamwo, 3 from Lira, 2 Luweero, 2 from Toronto, 2 from Yumbe, 7 cases from Mbale, Abim, Amuru, Bundibugyo, Kotido, Kiryandongo and Namisindwa with one case each district.
Other cases include 5 health workers including 2 from Kampala, 1 from Mbale, 1 from Kikuube and 1 from Gulu.
Six returnees including 5 from Saudi Arabia and 1 from Kenya were also confirmed positive and 4 truck drivers from different border points.
Additionally the ministry has announced two coronavirus deaths rising the numbers to 22.
” A 35 year old female and trader from kikuubo, Kampala and a 36 year old male from Kisenyi,” the ministry revealed.
The ministry further revealed the COVID-19 collection sites in Kampala and Wakiso including;
